My Approach

Counselling with Carey Webb

A calm, supportive space to explore what’s really going on for you

Starting therapy can bring up mixed feelings — curiosity, hope, uncertainty, and sometimes anxiety. You might be wondering what therapy will actually be like, or whether it will help.

My approach is centred on creating a space where you feel safe enough to speak openly, at your own pace, about whatever feels important to you.

What therapy with me feels like

Therapy isn’t about being analysed, judged, or told what to do. It’s about being met with understanding, curiosity, and care.

In our sessions, you can expect:

  • A warm, non-judgemental relationship

  • Time to slow things down and reflect

  • Space to explore thoughts and feelings honestly

  • Support to make sense of patterns and experiences

  • A pace that feels right for you

You don’t need to arrive with clear goals or the “right words”. We can begin wherever you are.

Working together

I see therapy as a collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you — helping you explore what’s happening beneath the surface and supporting you to find your own understanding and direction.

Some sessions may feel reflective and gentle; others may feel more focused or challenging. We regularly check in about how therapy is feeling for you, so that the work remains supportive and meaningful.

Your voice, choices, and boundaries matter throughout.

An integrative approach tailored to you

I work integratively, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs, preferences, and what feels most helpful for you.

Rather than fitting you into a particular model, I adapt the therapy to suit you as an individual. This allows the work to be flexible, responsive, and grounded in what you bring to each session.

What matters most is the quality of the therapeutic relationship — feeling understood, accepted, and supported — as this is often where real change begins.

What people often bring to therapy

People come to therapy for many reasons, including:

  • Anxiety, worry, and constant overthinking

  • Feeling low, emotionally drained, or disconnected

  • Low self-esteem or harsh self-criticism

  • Stress, burnout, or pressure from work or life

  • Relationship difficulties or recurring patterns

  • A sense of feeling stuck, lost, or unsure of direction

You don’t need a diagnosis or a clear explanation for how you’re feeling. Therapy can help you gently explore and understand your experience.

Your pace, your process

There’s no expectation to share everything straight away. Trust builds over time, and therapy unfolds differently for everyone.

You are always welcome to:

  • Ask questions

  • Talk about how therapy is feeling

  • Change direction

  • Take things more slowly

Therapy is your space, and we work in a way that feels respectful and manageable for you.

Professional and ethical practice

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work in line with their ethical framework, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality, safety, and your wellbeing.

Is this approach right for you?

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. If my approach resonates with you, you’re welcome to get in touch for a free introductory conversation. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of whether working together feels right.

There’s no pressure to commit — you can take your time deciding.
